About the Film

Heard is a documentary film about the collective experience of the space between hearing and Deafness.

Hearing is a fundamental component to the way society is structured. We’ve built infrastructure, activities, culture and of course, communication based on the ability to hear. And on the other end of our spectrum, society has seen Deaf individuals develop a sophisticated language and culture built around Deafness.

That leaves a gap between two distinct cultures where many Hard of Hearing (HoH) people lie.
The array of this space is vast. Many people go through life with one sided or Unilateral hearing loss, others are missing specific tones, rendering specific sounds that are crucial for human speech. And others do not have the ability to hear at all, but have acquired cochlear implants to hear.

This film helps people understand the nuances in the spaces between hearing and Deafness, helping people feeling like they can be themselves.
