TWO feature films about the Hard of Hearing experience.

Hello Atlanta! So, you’ve heard about these films?

Synopsis

HEARD profiles Hard of Hearing (HoH) creatives who use their hearing loss to further their practice as artists and creatives. Guided by HoH filmmaker Brian Ceci, the film visually explores the everyday lived experiences in a dramatic and comedic way, contextualizing for the audience what it’s truly like to live with hearing loss.

After Brian saw 8 Stories About My Hearing Loss in theatre at Vancouver International Film Festival, it provoked him to create ‘Heard’, about his own experiences of his deafness. This film is completely derivative of Charo Mato’s film and shows the power of cinema.

8 Stories About My Hearing Loss (Spanish: 8 Cuentos sobre mi hipoacusia), released in 2021, is an autobiographical documentary by Argentine filmmaker Charo Mato that chronicles her journey with progressive hearing loss. The 87-minute film combines personal testimony, home movies, and interviews to explore the emotional, medical, and social aspects of becoming deaf at age 23.
